Magazines.com Participates in Enterprise LAMP Summit Technology Conference

Tennessee-based Magazines.com will feature speakers at the first-ever Nashville-based Enterprise LAMP Summit.

Franklin, TN (Vocus) November 2, 2009 -- Magazines.com, the Internet's largest magazine subscription service, announced today that its Vice President of Technology Bob Miller and its Group Director-Development Cory Watson, will be featured speakers at the upcoming Enterprise LAMP Summit (http://enterpriselamp.org/), an open source development conference, slated for Nov. 5-6, 2009 in Nashville.

Bob Miller will present a session on leveraging open source tools and the business value in doing so.

"We believe strongly in open source and leveraging LAMP to effectively achieve Magazines.com (http://www.magazines.com/) business goals," said Miller. "Our goal in participating in the Summit is to raise awareness in the Middle Tennessee area and to get more business leaders involved in the LAMP community."

Cory Watson will present a session on the Perl programming language, which will outline powerful features that today's Perl has at its disposal.

"The Enterprise LAMP Summit is a great opportunity for us to share with others in the region how Magazines.com leverages LAMP, particularly Perl. It is also - perhaps more importantly - an opportunity for us to learn from others how they use LAMP," Watson said. "It's a great chance to teach and learn. I'm eager to demonstrate how powerful Perl is."

Nashville-based technology strategy company Remarkable Wit created the Enterprise LAMP Summit and the event is sponsored by several local companies and business groups including the Williamson County (TN) Office of Economic Development; the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce; the Nashville Technology Council; Vaco; and XL LED Lab among others.

For the Summit Remarkable Wit, LLC has invited global leaders in open source development to and to make their case that LAMP--Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, Python and Perl--has proven its ability to provide performance that CTOs at the world's largest enterprises can rely on for global deployment.
