OpenDNS Announces Massive Adoption Rates of New Premium Subscription Services

OpenDNS Announces Massive Adoption Rates of New Premium Subscription Services

More than 1,500 organizations switch to new OpenDNS premium services in just two weeks since they were made publicly available.

San Francisco (PRWEB) November 11, 2009 -- OpenDNS, provider of the world's leading Internet navigation and security services that make networks safer, faster, smarter and more reliable, today announced that more than 1,500 organizations have switched to its brand new subscription services in just two weeks since the services were launched to the public.

OpenDNS Deluxe and OpenDNS Enterprise were first made available on October 21 and since then organizations of all sizes - including globally distributed enterprises and some of the country's largest school districts - have made the switch from appliance-based filtering solutions from vendors such as Websense and Blue Coat. Both new services are delivered in response to customer demand and build upon OpenDNS's award-winning, cloud-based comprehensive Web content filtering and security services, rock-solid reliable DNS platform and intelligent Internet navigation features.

OpenDNS Enterprise is seeing particularly high adoption rates among organizations with multiple locations, for which it is cost-prohibitive and overly time-consuming to deploy and manage appliances at each site. OpenDNS can be deployed in just hours across multiple locations, at a fraction of the cost and complexity of traditional security services like Websense and Blue Coat.

"We looked at installing hardware appliances in each of our retail locations, but the forecasted cost turned out to be way more than we were willing to spend. We chose OpenDNS because it allows us to control the filtering for all of our retail locations from a single interface," said Dale Hobbs, Network Administrator for LUSH Cosmetics, which operates 149 retail locations throughout North America. "I'd absolutely recommend OpenDNS to other system administrators. The service and the cost benefit are hard to beat."

"The momentum we're seeing with OpenDNS Enterprise and Deluxe is unmatched and it's become increasingly clear that there is significant demand for a cloud-based, lightweight yet powerful Web content filtering service," said OpenDNS CEO Nand Mulchandani. "Many of the organizations that have subscribed to the new services are switching from an appliance-based solution and saving, in some cases, tens of thousands of dollars per year, in the process. We invite any organization currently using a Web content filtering service other than OpenDNS to explore Enterprise or Deluxe as a solution."
