(Vocus) November 2, 2009 -- Epsilen, an innovative Web 2.0 eLearning (http://www.epsilen.com) environment for institutions of higher education and K-12 schools, announced today that educators and students will now enjoy expanded access to the New York Times Knowledge Network Content Repository (NYTKN Repository) through Epsilen Environment (http://www.epsilen.com).
“We are delighted that the NYTKN Repository is part of Epsilen Environment, an eLearning platform that allows educators to access digital content and integrate it directly into their online lessons,” said Felice Nudelman, Executive Director of Education, The New York Times Company. “This is an exciting innovation in digital content distribution that is of great value to faculty and students.”
Members can now access more New York Times articles, video, blogs, and daily lessons, as well as pre-made templates and select resources from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). CSIS is a bipartisan, nonprofit organization headquartered in Washington, DC that conducts research and analysis and develops policy initiatives that look into the future and anticipate change. Educators and students can also create, save, and share personal library templates of resources for use in future lessons.
The NYTKN Repository allows faculty to aggregate content by lesson and subject and integrate it easily into their lessons. Other features include expanded search capabilities that allow members to find articles dating from 1851 to the present in a variety of formats, with specified topics and within certain date ranges. Educators and students can also access blogs written by New York Times journalists and ask questions through the course lessons via the blogs.
“The inclusion of the NYTKN Repository within Epsilen Environment is an example of how powerful the combination of innovative eLearning and digital content can be for the education community,” said Epsilen CEO Jim Bowler. “Students will benefit from an ever-growing repository of world-class content in a variety of academic areas, making Epsilen a truly unique eLearning environment.”
